Mission Statement: Triangle Arts Association encourages dialogue and experimentation through an annual series of workshops, residencies and exhibition opportunities for emerging and mid-career artists in New York City. Neither a colony nor a school, Triangle offers unique occasions for artists to meet and exchange ideas, not simply through talking, but by making art side by side for concentrated periods in a self-contained location. Triangle’s Artists’ Workshop and Residency Program are designed for professionals who seek a stimulating environment and dialogue with their peers.Intended to be about process, rather than product, since its inception Triangle has become increasingly international, and the approaches of the participating artists increasingly diverse. Artists with widely diverging backgrounds and often very different conceptions of what art can be have come to Triangle from 19 countries to date. Confronted by new ideas and new points of view, detached from familiar surroundings and entrenched habits, Triangle encourages resident artists to deepen their established lines of inquiry and to explore fresh possibilities. |
