Mission Statement: The 88 Room had a twofold mission. First, the curating focused on giving artists freedom to alter the space and make site-specific installations. Secondly, individual artworks were selected to create a dynamic between divergent works and mediums, and a conceptual continuity between exhibitions. The most memorable exhibitions included ‘Introversion’ (eight artists works in a tiny room highlighting the interiority of the artist’s working methods), ‘Think Tank” (a group show of drawing, and sculpture that provoked the audience to go beyond a retinal interaction), “Free Flow of Information” (a group exhibition in response to censorship issues that placed art as an equal to news media). |
