Bibliography of Chinese Art

Dr. Britta Erickson has compiled a comprehensive bibliography of Chinese contemporary artists including Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Diaspora on this website. The site is divided onto a general Bibliography and over 1000 individual artists bibliographies. The following bibliography is comprised in two parts: a general bibliography, and individual bibliographies for more than 1500 artists language information in this field, primarily in English. The bibliography stopped adding new materials in 2000.

The "Modern Chinese Art Foundation" is a private initiative, which collects, documents and promotes modern Chinese art. Founded as non-profit association in September 2000. From 2001 onwards, it will have permanent exhibitions, both in Belgium, Gent and in Beijing. The Foundation emphasizes the idea that visual arts and artifacts should be evaluated within the large historical and cultural context in which they were created. The Foundations current collection of art focuses on the nineties, but the intention is to expand this collection to include works from earlier periods. They have an extensive documentation centre and archive, and a database will be made available to the public
